The BRF and PRN sample files are available for online Braille testing preparation. The Braille Ready File (BRF) file is used for print requests containing only text (including formatted tables). The Printer Output File (PRN) file is used for print requests containing tactile or spatial components (such as images). More details about the testing requirements for online Braille testing can be found in the Idaho Assessment Systems Manual – AIR Systems User Guide in the “System Information – Systems Manual” folder.

When placing orders for Braille materials, please ensure the "Language/Presentation" field is updated to "Braille" for each subject on the Add Students page in TIDE.

This document provides an overview of the Usability, Accessibility, and Accommodations Guidelines focus on universal tools, designated supports, and accommodations to the English language arts/literacy and mathematics (math) assessments. The Guidelines are intended for school-level personnel and decision-making teams, particularly Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams, as they prepare for and implement the Smarter Balanced assessment. The Guidelines provide information for classroom teachers, English development educators, special education teachers, and related services personnel to use in selecting and administering universal tools, designated supports, and accommodations for those students who need them. The Guidelines are also intended for assessment staff and administrators who oversee the decisions that are made in instruction and assessment.

The purpose of this guide is to provide support in efforts to communicate information to districts and schools for the successful implementation of the Summative Assessments. Schools can use any tool included in this document, or modify any tool, as they transition to the new assessment system. Successful implementation will help to ensure that educators and families are confident in the selection and use of the universal tools, designated supports, and accommodations that promote positive and productive experiences with the Summative Assessments. Successful implementation will also highlight the connection between needed usability, accessibility, and accommodations approaches in the classroom during the assessments.
